This tour leads into one of the most interesting parts of Kreuzberg with a diverse young scene and buildings from the late 19th century. In this quarter you can also get aware of the progress of gentrification. We start at a popular takeaway “Curry 36”, where you can get Berlin Currywurst, a popular sausage dish. We look into different backyards of houses with its interesting infrastructures. At ”Dusterer Keller” the German gymnastics movement was founded in 1811, which spread all over the World. Around Chamissoplatz we see an intact architecture from the 1880-ies, tenement blocks, water pumps and old toilet houses. Different breweries had been producing beer in this part of Kreuzberg, their buildings now mainly used as artist studios or as apartments.
