This tour starts at the Berlin Pavilion/Restaurant in Scheidemannstraße across the Reichstag. Directly behind the parliament building the Berlin Wall went along to southern direction and here we find crosses as memorials for victims of the German division. We visit the Soviet War Memorial with its documentation about the end of World War II and go to Brandenburg Gate, which stood on the no man's land of the wall grounds. Along the Holocaust Memorial we come to the site of Hitler’s bunker and from there to Potsdamer Platz. There we find some few remains of the Wall and close by an original watch tower for GDR border guards. At the site of the former Gestapo building a larger part of the Berlin Wall is left standing. We overview from there different edifices of the 20th century: architectures of the Empire, Hitler’s dictatorship and the Cold War. We end at Checkpoint Charlie and the memorial of Peter Fechter who died in 1962 trying to escape from the east.
