Around Hackescher Markt we get in touch with different aspects of Berlin history, but we experience also Berlin lifestyle today. The open courtyards of 19th century houses and the narrow streets invite to a walk through the city without traffic. We start at S-Bahn Station Hackescher Markt. After a visit of Haus Schwarzenberg with its street art installations we pass Hackesche Höfe. In Sophienstraße we find beautiful 18th century architectures and other interesting yards. Auguststraße is characterized by contemporary art galleries and Clärchens Ballhaus, where people like to dance since 1913. Through Heckmann courtyards with its different fashion stores and restaurants we come to the New Synagogue. We end at Monbijou Park, where a beach bar invites for a rest.
